Barebow archers don't draw their bows before aiming!
Correct drawing: First, aim.Next, draw the string back to the anchor point. When letting go of the sting, archers will hardly move their arms-- if they do, it might disrupt the course of the arrow. This is called follow-through.
This is the best stance! Archers will take this whenever possible-- feet shoulder-width apart, back straight, perpendicular to their target.
This is a "righty" archer, because they draw their string with their right arm (most archers are "righties".) Notice that the arms follow the line of the arrow. This is an arm guard. Archers never go without these! If you don't wear one, your string can slap against your forearm and cause a lot of pain.
A mini diagram of an arrow. Keep in mind that feathers are usually very short and there are only three! This makes them more aerodynamic. Also, archers never use arrows with ragged feathers. This is a chest guard! Most ladies (and some gents) will wear these. The padded side will be on the side opposite of the one you draw the string with. This a recurve bow. Almost all barebow archers use these. Remember that the riser is not flexible-- only the limbs bend. A bow will be about a head shorter than the archer.
